Syrian regime offensive 'continues towards Idlib'

Intense Russian and govt bombing on front line

10 May, 16:27

(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, MAY 10 - The Syrian government and Russian air-and-ground offensive against opposition-held areas in the country's northwest continued on Friday. Syrian regime and allied troops have advanced over the past 48 hours towards key locations in the Orontos River Valley between Hama and Idlib. Local sources say that intense Russian and government airstrikes continue along the entire front line in the western sector of the border between Hama and Idlib.

The sources say that thousands of families are fleeing the offensive northwards. Many of those displaced spent the night under the open air, in olive groves in the countryside around Khan Sheikhoun and Maarrat al-Numan, located just beyond the frontline. Medical sources from Idlib say that it is difficult to treat those injured in the few medical facilities left standing after intense Russian and government airstrikes specifically targeting this type of facility.
