(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, OCTOBER 1 - Tension is on the rise at a crowded camp with refugees from Syria and other countries at the border between Syria and Iraq, following the arrests of dozens of people suspected of having been involved in the murder of a woman that occurred in circumstances that remain unclear. The killing took place in recent hours at the al Hol camp in eastern Syria, where since last December about 70,000 people have arrived after fleeing former ISIS areas that Kurdish-Syrian forces gradually took control of.

Among the tens of thousands of people at the camp are wives and children of ISIS fighters who were killed in battle or arrested.

The al Hol camp has been described by numerous sources as a place where ISIS is reorganising.

There are conflicting stories surrounding the woman's killing.

Some sources said the woman was stabbed to death by another woman, as the carrying out of a punishment inflicted by a self-declared Islamic tribunal in the camp.

Other sources spoke of a shooting between rival families in which the woman was accidentally killed. Kurdish-Syrian forces, which are having difficulty managing security outside the camp, arrested dozens of suspects.(ANSAmed).
