BEIRUT - Beirut and other cities in Lebanon were partially paralysed on Friday by road blocks by anti-government activists, continuing protests that broke out in mid-October over the high cost of living and corruption.

Various main roads were blocked starting Friday morning in Beirut and some schools remained closed.

Stretches of highway connecting the country's south and north were also blocked; as well as streets in Tripoli, in the country's north; and some stretches of highway that cross the eastern Bekaa Valley towards Syria.
