BEIRUT - The Kurdish-led ''Syrian Democratic Forces and the Internal Security Forces in partnership with the International Coalition Forces will be undertaking the process of collecting and registering data about the foreign wives'' of Islamic State (ISIS) members, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said in a statement Wednesday about the Al-Hol camp.

The governing body for northeastern Syria noted that it "is the most dangerous camp in the world as it includes large numbers of ISIS members and their children." An estimated 30,000 wives and children of ISIS members are currently being held including about 10,000 of non-Syrian nationality. The camp is extremely overcrowded and has been since December 2018. The Kurdish-led authorities say the operation is being conducted for security reasons and noted that numerous countries refuse to take their citizens back.
