Shipwreck in Tunisia: 39 bodies found, women and children

    (ANSAmed) - TUNIS, JUNE 11 - The Tunisian Navy has thus far recovered a total of 39 bodies, including those of children and women - one of whom was pregnant - after a shipwreck Monday off the coast of Tunisia, said the regional director of civil protection, Mourad Mechri.

    Mechri said the search for bodies is ongoing and that more are being recovered hour by hour.

    The boat was carrying 53 migrants, most of whom were from sub-Saharan Africa, and sank off the Kerkenneh Islands in an area of sea between El Louza (Jebeniana) and Kraten.(ANSAmed).
