(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, JUNE 11 - The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) is promoting Tunisia as a "safe tourist destination" during the Covid-19 pandemic. In a tweet, UNWTO said Tunisia has developed a health protocol to guarantee a safe environment for travellers and workers in the tourism sector. Drafted by the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT), the anti-Covid-19 health protocol contains measures regarding health safety and hygiene regulations to prevent the spread of the virus in the tourism sector.

Despite travel restrictions imposed by some countries, Tunisia is looking to relaunch its tourism sector for summer 2020.

It has thus far managed to contain the spread of the coronavirus, with only 55 cases currently in the country.

Prior to the health emergency, Tunisia was aiming to accommodate 10 million tourists in 2020, after having welcomed over nine million in 2019.

The new slogan to promote Tunisian tourism in 2020 is "Tunisia Ready and Safe", and includes a video of the same name produced by the Tunisian Tourism Ministry.(ANSAmed).
