Libya: Italy asks for probe on mass graves in Tarhouna

'Perpetrators must be identified, held accountable'

    (ANSAmed) - ROME, JUNE 17 - ''The Italian government is appalled by the recent discovery of several mass graves in the city of Tarhouna, Libya'', according to a statement published on the website of the Italian foreign ministry on Tuesday. ''In line with the recent statements of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, EU High Representative Josep Borrell and the UNSMIL mission, Italy calls for an independent and transparent inquiry in order to identify perpetrators and hold them accountable''.

    ''Italy calls on all parties involved in the Libyan conflict to fully respect human rights and international humanitarian law'', the statement stressed. (ANSAmed).
