(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, JANUARY 14 - Tunisia set a new daily
record in coronavirus cases as a national four-day lockdown went
into effect Thursday. The country's health ministry said it
registered 3,632 infections out of 12,453 tests on January 12,
the highest one-day total since the start of the pandemic.
That figure brings the overall number of confirmed infections to
168,568. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 5,415, with 72
deaths on January 12. Currently 1,805 people are hospitalised,
364 of whom are in intensive care and 128 on ventilators.
Authorities declared a four-day general lockdown with a daily
curfew from 4 pm to 6 am, starting Thursday. Other restrictive
measures, such as school and university closures, will remain in
