TUNIS - Tunisia will obtain its first Covid vaccines starting in February, said Tunisian Health Minister Faouzi Mehdi in a press conference to present the country's vaccination plan against Covid-19.
The vaccination plan will allow for getting back to normal life and reducing the negative repercussions of the pandemic, Mehdi said, adding that Tunisia has made agreements with various companies to purchase six million doses of the coronavirus vaccine.
Tunisia is also participating in the Jdc Africa initiative to obtain 2.4 million additional doses at reasonable prices at the start of March 2021.
The health minister, accompanied by Tunisian Technology Minister Fadhel Kraiem, provided details of the vaccination campaign programme that will start in the coming weeks.
There will be five priority categories, starting with people over age 75 and health workers.
Kraiem announced a vaccine registration and distribution system as well as the website Evax.tn that will allow citizens to sign up for the vaccination campaign.
