(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, 02 MAR - Tunisian border authorities at the Tunis port of La Goulette stopped 30 people last week who were attempting to board one of the ships anchored at port to illegally reach European countries, said a statement from the Tunisian Interior ministry, adding that all those who were stopped have been reported to the judiciary.

The ministry also said that last week the national guard arrested two Tunisians in Nabeul who were riding in a private vehicle with plastic containers full of fuel intended for an operation of "illegal crossing of maritime borders".

The public prosecutor has decided to open a criminal investigation into those suspects as well, the statement said.
