(ANSAmed) - LJUBLJANA, FEBRUARY 13 - Ombudsmen of Western Balkan Countries, Slovenia and Turkey held a joint meeting in Ljubljana in the framework of the EU-funded project for improving cooperation in South East Europe, implemented by the CEI Secretariat in cooperation with the Regional Cooperation Council.

Under the auspices of boh organisations, the participating ombudsmen established their regional network, to be coordinated by the Albanian Ombudsman for the current year. Participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia called upon the authorities of their countries to show greater concern in dealing with issues related to economic and social rights of citizens. Ombudsman Offices' staff exchanged experiences about fighting discrimination of vulnerable groups (e.g. persons with disabilities, Roma, LGBT), mobbing, whistle-blowers protection and other issues.
