(ANSAmed) - ROMA, JUNE 27 - Libya is back with representatives from its news agency at the meetings of AMAN, the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies, from which it had been absent since 2003. This fact was underscored by Italian Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesman Carlo Schillaci in speaking at the ANSA-organised seminar at the foreign ministry, as well as by ANSA President Giulio Anselmi. Relaying Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi's (today on a mission in Lebanon) welcome, Schillaci said that ''getting to know each other better fosters stability, in part also thanks to the fertile ground of the network of Mediterranean journalists.

Occasions like this one are fundamental, and for this reason it was so important for us to hold this part of the seminar here at the ministry.'' Schillaci also underscored the role of ANSAmed, the multi-lingual agency of ANSA for the Mediterranean, ''which is of high quality and enjoys high levels of penetration throughout the area. Many claim that the media did not see the Arab Spring coming, but I disagree. ANSAmed is surely a bet which has been proven right, and which was created well before the advent of the Arab Spring: well done, you sensed the direction that was to be taken.'' (ANSAmed).
