Spain: Former PM Zapatero takes office at State Council

(ANSAmed) - MADRID, FEBRUARY 9 - Spain's former Prime Minister, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, will today be sworn in as a member of the State Council, a role reserved to former heads of government. The Socialist former PM's entrance in to the consultative body will be over seen by two other members of the council, the former Deputy Prime Minister, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega and the former Justice Minister, Fernando Ledesma, according to sources at the State Council quoted by Europa Press. Zapatero will soon take his new office together with the former head of the Royal House, Alberto Aza, who has been named a permanent councillor, and four other councillors from state institutions. The swearing-in ceremony will be presided over by the current Deputy Prime Minister, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria. (ANSAmed).
