(ANSAMed) - BEIRUT, AUGUST 3 - The Syrian government is open to a national dialogue as the only solution to the crisis, Syrian Deputy Economics Minister Qadri Jamil told reporters in Moscow on Friday.

''The Syrian government is committed to doing everything possible to bring about a national reconciliation,'' Sana press agency quoted Jamil as saying. ''The West and the US cannot tell the Syrian people what choices to make or how to live their lives.'' ''The Syrian government looked favorably on the six-point plan proposed by the envoy Kofi Annan,'' added Economics Abdel Fattah Ammura Undersecretary. ''We signed it and started implementing it... but the other parties did not want the Annan plan because they do not want a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis.'' Jamil is heading a ministerial delegation in an official visit to Russia, which is Syria's ally. The delegation was in Russia to discuss ''how to improve bilateral relations.'' (ANSAMed).
