Migrants: Juncker, EU supports Greece and Italy

Common sense must prevail, solidarity not imposed by courts

14 June, 13:40

(ANSAmed) - STRASBOURG, JUNE 14 - European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday said reports that the EU is not making progress on migrants ''is not true, the EU and member States support Greece and Italy''.

Juncker made the statement after the European Commission launched infringement procedures against the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland for failing to comply with their relocation obligations.

''Member States will need to do more'', said Juncker, stressing however that ''we shouldn't solve the problem of solidarity in front of a court'' and calling for ''common sense''.
