'Trump's decision was brave and moral, UNESCO distorts history'

(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, OCTOBER 12 - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - who is also Israel's foreign minister - gave instructions to "prepare for Israel's exit from UNESCO parallel with the US", Netanyahu's office said in a statement on Thursday.

"President Trump's decision is brave and moral, because UNESCO has become a theatre of the absurd and because, rather than preserve history, it distorts it," the statement said.

"There's a price to pay for discrimination against Israel; today is a new day at the UN," said Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon.

Danon said UNESCO has become "a battlefield for Israel and has ignored its true role and scope". "Today's decision represents a turning point: the organisation's absurd and shameful resolutions against our country have consequences," Danon said.(ANSAmed).
