Erdogan vows to act against US weapons to Kurds in Syria

Eve of meeting with Putin and Rouhani, 'arms against who?'

21 November, 19:35

(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, NOVEMBER 21 - Turkey will not sit and watch as the Syrian Kurds of the YPG grow stronger militarily with US support, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday.

He was speaking on the eve of a meeting in Sochi with his Russian and Iranian counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani. ''Why do truckloads of weapons continue to arrive in northern Syria? Against what country are these armaments expected to be used? No one should expect Turkey to sit by and watch when faced with situations that concern its future,'' Erdogan said. Ankara considers the YPG to be a regional branch of the PKK, internationally recognized as a terrorist organization, and a threat to its security. (ANSAmed).
