(ANSAmed) - AMMAN, APRIL 16 - International war games 'Eager Lion 2018' kick started south Jordan involving troops of ground, marine and air forces totaling 7,000 military personnel from the Middle East, the US and EU.

The Jordanian army said this year's event will focus on improving operational coordination, fighting 'terrorism' and border security, evacuation and crisis management. Other objectives to be addressed include search and rescue, fighting e-terrorism and executing joint logistic assistance operations, said the army in remarks carried out by Petra news agency.

Jordan army officials said the exercise will allow the Jordanian army to test newly established new army unit for emergency situations. Nearly 3,500 American soldiers will participate in the event as troops also focus on developing capabilities of cooperation with government institutions to activate a mobile laboratory that responds to a simulated chemical incident.
