(ANSAmed) - TIRANA, MARCH 5 - A protest in front of Parliament in Tirana on Tuesday turned violent with firecrackers, tear gas and tires set on fire as the center-right Albanian opposition gathered to ask for the resignation of Socialist Premier Edi Rama.

Hundreds of police officers surrounded the building of the National Assembly where a hearing only attended by MPs from the ruling coalition was ongoing. The opposition two weeks ago gave up the mandate of its lawmakers. Police have cordoned off the main entrance of Parliament and anti-riot officers are lined up behind them.(ANSAmed).
