ROME - In a speech at the Italian parliament on Monday, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte called for solidarity from the EU as concerns migrants.

He noted that this solidarity had been ''announced but not yet implemented''. Conte said that he had ''strongly conveyed this vision to major European leaders and I will continue to do so in the government that is being created, in relations with our partner nations and with European leaders, immediately, with concrete initiatives that must make us leave behind emergency management'' of migration crises.

He said that the government was already working on this but that other actions in line with Italy's approach would be useful, ''such as the setting up of European humanitarian corridors''.
