(ANSAmed) - BERLIN, OCTOBER 22 - Germany wants to ask for a safe zone in northern Syria controlled by international forces, German Defense Minister and Cdu President, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, told Dpa.

The proposal was agreed with Chancellor Angela Merkel and communicated to allies, said Kramp-Karrenbauer who will present it to the NATO council of defense ministers in Brussels on Thursday.

The possible participation of Germany's armed forces should first be voted by Parliament, added the Cdu leader. A solution to the conflict ''consists in creating a safe zone controlled at an international level, with the involvement of Turkey and Russia and with the objective of easing tension in the region'', said Kramp-Karrenbauer.

The other objective to be pursued is the fight against ISIS militants and reconstruction in the region, which is key for the return of refugees to Syria, continued the minister. (ANSAmed).
