Di Maio calls for Tunisia, neighbouring countries at Berlin

In Tunisia calls for stop to proxy war and interference

13 January, 14:31

(ANSAmed) - ROME, JANUARY 13 - Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio on Monday told Tunisian state TV that his meeting with Tunisian President Kais Saied was "cordial and productive" and said the two leaders discussed various topics, "including, obviously, Libya".

"Italy believes it is important to involve Tunisia and neighbouring countries in the Berlin Conference," Di Maio said.

"There can't be a concrete and lasting solution without the involvement of countries near Libya, such as Algeria and Morocco. We need to work together towards a new approach, that involves everyone at the dialogue table," he said.

"What we have before us is a proxy war: we have to stop all external interference. We must stop selling weapons. The diplomatic way must prevail," he said.(ANSAmed).
