Sakellaropoulou, 63, the current president of the Council of State, was elected by 261 out of the 294 MPs in the House. The main opposition party Syriza voted with the conservative majority of Nea Dimokratia and Socialists with Kinal. Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis had chosen Sakellaropoulou as candidate. The swearing in ceremony of the new president of 'Elliniki Dimokratia' is scheduled on March 11, said parliament speaker, Costas Tassoulas.
