TEL AVIV - The district court of Lod (Tel Aviv) on Monday sentenced Amiram Ben Oliel, 25, to three life terms and an additional 27 years in jail for killing an entire Palestinian family when he threw a molotov cocktail against a home in the West Bank village of Duma in July 2015. Two parents, Saad and Riham Dawabshe, and their baby Ali died in the fire. Another child of the couple, Ahmed, survived although he sustained extensive burns.

Ben Oliel will also have to pay to the family of Ahmed Dawabshe 258,000 shekels, or 65,000 euros.

During the trial, the prosecutor was able to probe Ben Oliel's guilt but not the fact that he allegedly belonged to an extremist far-right Jewish group. The youth had pleaded not guilty and claimed he was tortured by the Israeli security service Shin Bet. His appeal was refused by judges. The family of Ahmed Dawabshe expressed satisfaction of the severity of the ruling.
