07 April, 14:43

ROME - After observers from foreign countries were prevented from attending the latest hearing in the trial against Patrick Zaki, the Italian embassy to Egypt has immediately started working with interlocutors from like-minded countries, highlighting the need to continue to send concrete signals on the importance of trial monitoring. The international community needs to continue to use trial monitoring to preserve the rights of defendants and people under investigation, according to the embassy. Thanks to this, the embassies of France and Canada have accepted to attend a hearing while the US filed a letter to the court to stress the country's interest in the case.
