27 May, 17:50

(ANSAmed) - PARIS, MAY 27 - France on Wednesday banned hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of coronavirus, following negative assessments released on Tuesday by the country's Committee of Public Safety and the Medicines Agency after the World Health Organization and the medical journal Lancet questioned the drug's efficiency and highlighted its risks for coronavirus treatment.

French professor Didier Raoult has strongly defended the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus.

The French government abrogated the decree that authorised the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus.(ANSAmed).
