(ANSAmed) - ZURICH, FEBRUARY 26 - Gianni Infantino, Italian-Swiss national and former UEFA secretary general, has been elected the new president of the world football federation FIFA. He won with 115 votes, 11 more than an absolute majority, in the second round of voting. His rival, Bahrain's Sheikh Salman Al-Khalifa - who was criticized for belonging to a royal family that repressed 2011 protests - got 88. Infantino said in his first speech as FIFA chief that he wanted to be the president of all 209 federations and bring in a ''new era'' alongside them. (ANSAmed).
