MILAN - Umbro Italia is standing against racism in the world of soccer by becoming the sponsor for NoWalls Internazionale Fc, a team of the association by the same name based in Milan since 2016. The association promotes the integration of immigrants in Italy.

NoWalls Internazionale Fc plays in the Master Acli soccer championship. It is Italy's most international team with players from 14 countries, including Nigeria, Kosovo, Gambia and Mali.

''The project - explained Claudio Ceriani, who is responsible for sports activities at NoWalls - has the primary objective of creating a soccer team that is a playful tool of integration. By having fun, we train students from NoWalls on how to be an organized, disciplined group able to win loyal challenges. We are convinced that youths followed by our team in a professional and kind manner feel welcomed and accepted. Moreover, by being together and playing together, by being loyal and sportsmanlike, we show the world that we meet how unfounded are the fears paving the way to racism''.

''On the field the only thing that counts is the color of the team's jersey - added Michela Tedone, marketing manager at Umbro Italia -. Respect and sharing are Umbro's values which is a brand that for the past 95 years has made football, experienced democratically as a joyful and authentic sport, one of the key points of its mission. We strongly believe that sport can be a great vehicle of integration and aggregation - a tool able to tear down barriers and create networks''.
