(by Francesco Tedesco) (ANSAmed) - NAPLES, JANUARY 11 - Italy's first capsule hotel, Benbo, was inaugurated on Wednesday morning inside the international Capodichino airport in Naples.

The hotel has 42 rooms of four and a half meters each to sleep for 25 euros for a night or for a couple of hours before a flight.

The hotel offers 'bed and boarding' with a single capsule that looks like a little colored house with a smart television, a bed, a desk to read or work on a computer, air conditioning and a docking station to charge a phone, PC or tablet.

Two of the rooms have been designed for disabled people.

There are 16 bathrooms with a shower available and they are cleaned after use.

The hotel was built inside the Pegaso building, managed by the GESAC company that administers the airport, which has sublet it to local entrepreneurs who have built the prokect designed by architectural team Studiotre for an investment worth a million euros.

One night costs 25 euros but it is also possible to rest for one hour for eight euros, which becomes seven for the second hour and six for the third.

''The hotel - explained Armando Brunini, the CEO of Gesac - is targeted for a business clientele that is growing in Capodichino, along with the growth of international tourism''.

Young travelers and families are also potential clients given that there are also connecting rooms.

There is also a plan to enlarge Benbo to include 30 two-room bedrooms for a total of 72 rooms.

''The idea - explained Carlotta Tartarone, project manager at Studiotre - comes from an elaboration of capsule rooms at Tokyo's airport, but it is the only experiment in Italy for the moment. We chose Naples because it is our city, but we are already in contact with the airports of Rome, Bergamo and Palermo to export the model''. (ANSAmed).
