From 'breath of the devil' to ghost of gentlewoman with child

(ANSAmed) - GENOA, JANUARY 13 - The City of Genoa has released a new interactive 3D map of the historic centre that presents 27 of the city's most mysterious sites.

The map, titled "Myths, Legends, Genoa", also includes the stories surrounding the sites, such as that of a young woman musician who, after daring to fall in love with a nobleman, was locked in the dungeons of the San Domenico Abbey, where the Carlo Felice Theatre now stands. A total of 10,000 copies of the map have been printed and will be distributed starting at the end of January in shops throughout the city's Integrated Street Centre (CIV) districts and tourism promotion areas. The map was printed in Italian and English and has a QR code system that will allow tourists and local residents to discover all the secrets of the "city of mystery".

They can meet, for example, the masked lady who wanders at night with a bundle in her arms, perhaps her baby son born from an illicit affair; or go to feel the "breath of the devil" on the Salita dell'Arcivescovado.

In attendance at the presentation of the map in Palazzo Tursi were City Trade Councillor Paola Bordilli, Tourism Councillor Laura Gaggero, councillor delegated to the municipalities Lilli Lauro, president of the Centro Est municipality Andrea Carratù, as well as many representatives from the CIVs and neighbourhood associations.

"One of the positive aspects of this project is that it brings together the commercial fabric with the history and culture of the city," Gaggero said.

"And it's just a first step: we're working to create an actual mystery week so that the concept of the ghost tour becomes a distinctive brand of tourism in Genoa," she said.(ANSAmed).
