Says people expect show of responsibility

(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, SEPTEMBER 19 - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday appealed to the leader of the centrist Blue and White party, Benny Gantz, to form a national unity government as soon as possible.

"We must set up a unity government today," Netanyahu said, addressing Gantz directly. "The people expect the two of us to show responsibility and work for cooperation," he said.

"During the electoral campaign, I appealed to set up a right-wing government. But to my regret, the result of the elections shows that isn't possible. The people didn't choose between the two blocs. There is no choice but to establish a broad government, as broad as possible, composed of all those elements to whom the state of Israel is dear," Netanyahu said.(ANSAmed).
