(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, MARCH 17 - A statue to protest
against Benjamin Netanyahu appeared on Wednesday morning in Tel
Aviv's central Habima square, representing the premier naked and
crouched. The initiative is sparking a wave of positive and
negative reactions online, just a few days before political
elections scheduled on March 23. According to media reports, the
statue has now been removed by city personnel while police has
questioned passersby for information.
A table with snacks was reportedly placed next to the statue.
This is not the first time - over the past two years during
which four elections were held - that statues of protest have
appeared in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Last December, for example,
artist Itay Zalait placed one in front of Netanyahu's residence
in Jerusalem during weekly protests against the premier's
policies.(ANSAmed).
