Lebanon Massimo Marotti on Monday inaugurated a project
implemented by the Italian blue helmets of the UNIFIL mission
during a visit to Tibnin in the south of the country.
In the company of the commander of the Italian contingent, general Arturo Nitti, Marotti inaugurated the municipal oil press built by the Italian soldiers and the local municipality. The new olive press "will allow local farmers to produce quality oil without being forced to travel long distances, with processing and transportation costs that can sometimes be unsustainable," the president of the union of local municipalities Nabil Assad Fawaz said. "The project is not just the fruit of the committment of the Italian contingent of UNIFIL, but also a success of Italy's country system," General Nitti said. "Peace and economic and social development can and must create the conditions for relaunching the country," Marotti added. (ANSAmed).
