MEDITERRANEAN OF PHOTOGRAPHERS EXHIBIT UNVEILED IN ALGIERS
ALGIERS, JUNE 8 - The exhibition ''Mediterranean of Photographers'' has reached for the first time a country of the southern shore of the Mediterranean.
The over 200 photographs of the Alinari archive, which make up the exhibition, are as from today on show in Algiers in the beautiful building hosting the Algerian National Library.
Unveiling the event were the Algerian Minister of Culture, Khalida Toumi together with the Italian Ambassador in Algeria Giovanni Battista Verderami and ANSA and ANSAmed CEO and Director General Mario Rosso, before a large crowd.
The exhibition is entirely organised by ANSAmed with the collaboration of the Algerian news agency APS and sponsored by Sardinia Region, Sonatrach and Astaldi.
In her speech Khalida Toumi underlined how such initiatives in a country of the southern shore of the Mediterranean, contribute to counterbalancing the moving to North-East of the European axis due to the latest EU enlargement.
''This exhibition - Toumi said - will then bring stability in the area as culture and cultural exchanges are themselves stability factors''.
