ITALY-LIBYA: AGREEMENT CLOSED, BERLUSCONI TO MEET GADDAFI
The agreement of friendship and cooperation between Italy and
Libya has been closed although there are still some collateral
issues to be defined. The accord is for the long term, 25 years
with annual expenses commitments, government sources said
confirming the visit of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to
Libya where he will meet Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in Benghazi.

KARADZIC PLEADS NOT GUILTY
The UN tribunal for the former Yugoslavia entered a plea of
not guilty on behalf of former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan
Karadzic for war crimes and genocide charges he refused to
plead. At his second plea hearing before his trial for charges
of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the 1992-95 Bosnian
war, Karadzic refused to enter pleas for all of the 11 charges
against him in front of presiding judge Iain Bonomy.

TERRORISM: TURKEY; AL QAEDA ATTACK IN ISTANBUL FOILED
The Turkish special anti-terrorism forces have spoiled an
attack that memmbers of al-Qaeda were planning in Istanbul by
arresting 12 people believed to belong to the Islamic militant
group.

ISLAM: MOROCCO INVESTS IN MODERATED IMAMS, MOSQUES IN EUROPE
Providing for the religious education of the Moroccans
resident abroad with an investment of over $16 million for the
imams' education and building of mosques in Europe, with the
objective to stem the influence of the Islamic extremists and to
export the fight against the terrorism. This is the goal of the
government of Morocco which has drafted a programme "adapted to
the religious needs of the Moroccans abroad", for their
"healthy setting" in the religious field and initiatives in
favour of the emigrants' community. (ANSAmed).
