ENERGY: MOROCCO-PORTUGAL VOW TO PROMOTE COOPERATION
(ANSAmed) - RABAT, JUNE 30 - Morocco and Portugal voiced will
to promote and deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of
electric and renewable energies. This came in a meeting between
Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment, Amina
Benkhadra, and Portuguese Minister of Economy and Innovation,
Manuel Pinho, Map news agency reports.
Benkhadra said "Portugal has a wide experience in the field
of renewable energy, which places it in a privileged position
regarding its possibilities in Morocco which is endowed with
natural assets in the sector of wind power." The minister
called on interested Portuguese companies to respond to the call
for tenders launched by the kingdom in the field of energy.
Touching on electric energy, she highlighted the
opportunities that Morocco offers in this regard, notably
electric power plants that could serve both the domestic market
or the southern Mediterranean countries, including Portugal.
From his part, the Portuguese official underlined that this
kind of bilateral cooperation "constitutes a big challenge for
the two countries in the current context that is characterized
by an unprecedented rise in energy product prices." Pinho
stressed his country's willingness to share with Morocco its
experience in the field of energy, mainly in the electricity
