MIDEAST: FRATTINI IN MARRAKECH TO OPEN FORUM FOR THE FUTURE
(ANSAmed) - ABU DHABI - Italian Foreign Minister Franco
Frattini has left Abu Dhabi for Marrakech (Morocco) where he
will arrive this evening for the inaugural dinner of the
'Forum for the Future'. Chaired by Italy and Morocco, the
Forum - in which G8 foreign ministers and representatives of
the Greater Middle East are to take part - will be an
opportunity to exchange views on Afghanistan after the
decision by former Afghan foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah
to withdraw from the November 7 second round of voting.
Frattini, who will be meeting with Hillary Clinton on
Tuesday, said yesterday that he hoped the discussion on the
situation in Kabul with his G8 counterparts - as well as in
collaboration with the United Nations - would lead to ''a
shared solution'' confirming ''our desire for a credible
government supported by Afghanis''. (ANSAmed).
