Centre-left opposition
Democratic Party (PD) leader Maurizio Martina said Monday the
government was "supporting tax dodgers against honest tax payers
and black work against work according to the rules" with its
'fiscal peace' tax amnesty.
The government is planning to let tax payers who have filed
regular income tax returns but fallen behind with their tax
payment through no fault of their own make 'fiscal peace' with
the authorities by paying a one-off sum.
The government has denied claims by the PD and other
opposition parties that this amounts to a tax amnesty.
Martina said Monday the measure was "incredible".
