Domenico Arcuri, the Extraordinary
Commissioner for the COVID-19 Emergency, has issued a
"simplified procedure of maximum urgency" for the acquisition
and distribution of two million serological kits for teaching
and non-teaching personnel at Italy's schools, according to a
statement.
The bids must be presented by July 16.
The kits must be ready by August 10 in order to be used on all
teaching and non-teaching personnel before the start of the new
school year.
A few days ago Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced school
workers would undergo serological tests and constant medical
checks.
The minister explained that, for the government "the reopening
of the schools is fundamental but it must be done in total
safety" with constant monitoring of the epidemiological picture.
He stressed that "investing major resources" to achieve this aim
"is a fundamental objective that must see the whole country
united".
