Matera, the "European capital of culture in 2019", and Cortina d'Ampezzo, which will host the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2021 and the 2026 Winter Olympics - two locations with sites protected by UNESCO - will work together to exchange their experiences in the promotion of tourism, culture and their local economies.
A press conference was organized on Saturday in Matera with the participation of the presidents of industrial employers' confederation Confindustria of Belluno Dolomiti, Lorraine Berton, of Confindustria Basilicata, Pasquale Lorusso, of hoteliers' federation Federalberghi Basilicata, Francesco Garofalo, and the vice president of the province of Belluno, Serenella Bogana.
The press conference was organized during the initiative organized by Confindustria: "Matera 2019: the open future of Italian companies".
The first meeting, announced by president Lorraine Berton, is scheduled to take place in December in Cortina d'Ampezzo, when Matera representatives will discuss the city's experience as the European capital of culture.
Accepting the invitation, which is part of the adhesion to Confindustria's national network for the mountain area, Lorusso also announced the involvement of the Foundation "Matera-Basilicata 2019" and of the City of Matera.
