EU sanctions on Russia are
absurd, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said
Monday.
"On Wednesday I'm going back to Russia for the umpteenth time
because a debate is ongoing at the European level whether to
indefinitely renew the economic sanctions against Russia which I
believed, and believe, are a social, cultural and economic
absurdity," said the leader of the anti-migrant Euroskeptic
League party.
Speaking about the effects of the sanctions on Italian
exports to Russia, he added: "they are precluding a market to
us".
he said "I'm not going there because they pay me in rubles,
as someone has written, but because I'm absolutely convinced
(the sanctions are wrong)".
