Coronavirus: 618.000+ cases in New Europe,21.054 died
04 August, 12:30The total number of fatalities in the region is 21054 (+126), of which 9148 registered in Germany, 2413 in Romania, 1738 in Ukraine, 1731 in Poland, 792 in Moldova, 718 in Austria, 597 in Hungary, 590 in Serbia, 567 in Belarus.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (210402, +509 in the last 24 hours), followed by Ukraine (73158, +990), Belarus (68067, +121), Romania (53186, +1075), Poland (46894, +548), Serbia (26193, +311), Moldova (25362, +249), Austria (21309, +85). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 139691 confirmed cases and 4961 deaths were registered as of August 3.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 7171 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (6287), North Macedonia (5328), Montenegro (5196) and Kosovo (4838), compared to 4102 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (433 per million) and Slovakia (430 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population (239), followed by Moldova (196), Kosovo (132) and Romania (124), Slovakia the lowest (5).
Italy has recorded around 581 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between July 27 and August 3, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Kosovo (+23,4%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+19,0%) and Romania (+18,7%). (ANSA).
