23 July, 12:10The total number of fatalities in the region is 19641 (+114), out of which 9095 registered in Germany, 2074 in Romania, 1636 in Poland, 1534 in Ukraine 710 in Austria, 708 in Moldova, 596 in Hungary, 507 in Belarus, 491 in Serbia.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (202799, +454 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (66348, +135), Ukraine (60995, +829), Poland (40782, +399), Romania (39133, +994), Serbia (21605, +352), Moldova (21442, +327), Austria (19679), and Czechia (14324, +226). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 106801 confirmed cases and 4090 deaths were registered as of July 22.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6990 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (5315) and North Macedonia (4531), compared to 4047 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (376 per million) and Slovakia (363 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (208), followed by Moldova (176) and Germany (109), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 580 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between July 13 and July 20, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Montenegro (+45,0%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+22,8%), Croatia (+17,0%), Kosovo (+16,4%), Bulgaria (+16,1%), Romania (+15,1%), Albania (+14,5%), Serbia (+13,8%) and North Macedonia (+12,8%). Only in Slovakia, Austria, Lithuania, Hungary, Belarus, Latvia, Germany and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases was between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
