Croatia: second Plenkovic government wins confidence

Continuity program, on a moderate and pro-European line

24 July, 14:26
(ANSA) - ZAGREB, 24 LUG - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, leader of the conservatives who won the general election on July 5, and his new government have won the vote of confidence of the Parliament late in the evening. Plenkovic will be the head of the country fo another four years. The new cabinet, made up of sixteen ministers, was approved by 76 MPs (out of 151), whereas the oppositions (the left and the sovereign right) voted against the government. Although it may seem fragile, the parliamentary majority is for now, however, very stable.

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) led by Plenkovic, eight deputies from ethnic minorities, including the Serbian and Italian minorities and two from the liberal center make up the cabinet. The makeup of the government has remained almost unchanged compared to the outgoing one. In presenting the government program, Prime Minister Plenkovic promised a "government of continuity," which intends to keep the country on a firmly centrist, moderate, and pro-European line. (ANSA).
