(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 22 JUN - A total of 428.271 confirmed
cases of COVID-19 (+3822 day-on-day), were registered in
countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and
Greece, show official data of national authorities received by
the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, June 21. The
growth of COVID-19 cases in the region continues to slow down in
the region, with the exception in the past week of North
Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo and Moldova according to data updated
as of June 15. Belarus has registered more confirmed cases of
Covid-19 per million people than Italy. The total number of
fatalities in the region is 16.678 (+71), out of which 8882
registered in Germany, 1500 in Romania, 1346 in Poland, 1002 in
Ukraine 688 in Austria, 570 in Hungary, 464 in Moldova, 343 in
Czechia, , 336 in Belarus, 260 in Serbia, 233 in North
Macedonia. The largest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area
was registered in Germany (189822, +687 in the last 24 hours),
followed by Belarus (57936, +603), Ukraine (36560, +735), Poland
(31620, +304), Romania (23730, +330), Austria (17247, +62),
Moldova (13953, +397), Serbia (12803, +94), and Czechia (10448,
+42). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western
Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo,
North Macedonia, Albania) 56862 confirmed cases and 2654 deaths
were registered as of June 21. In Central- and Eastern
Europe, Belarus has registered about 6104 cases of COVID-19 per
million inhabitants, compared to 3940 in Italy, followed by
Moldova (3935) and North Macedonia (2410), while the lowest rate
was observed in Greece (302 per million) and Slovakia (291 per
million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the
region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per
one million population in the region (131), followed by North
Macedonia (112) and Germany (107), Slovakia the lowest (5).
Italy has recorded around 572 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between June 8 and June 15, the highest weekly increase of
confirmed cases was observed in North Macedonia (+34,0%),
Albania (+25,9%), Kosovo (+21,2%) and Moldova (+21,0%). In
Serbia, Czechia, Lithuania, Hungary, Estonia, Slovakia, Germany,
Austria, Latvia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Croatia the weekly
increase of new cases is between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
