(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 25 JUN - A total of 438.315 confirmed
cases of COVID-19 (+3573 day-on-day), were registered in
countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and
Greece, show official data of national authorities received by
the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, June 24. The
growth of COVID-19 cases in the region was particularly strong
in Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania and Moldova in the past
week, according to data updated as of June 22. Belarus has
registered more confirmed cases of Covid-19 per million people
than Italy. The total number of fatalities in the region is
16.922 (+100), out of which 8914 registered in Germany, 1539 in
Romania, 1375 in Poland, 1051 in Ukraine 693 in Austria, 573 in
Hungary, 492 in Moldova, 357 in Belarus 339 in Czechia, 263 in
Serbia, 251 in North Macedonia. The highest number of cases of
COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (191449, +587 in
the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (59487, +464), Ukraine
(39014, +940), Poland (32527, +300), Romania (24505, +214),
Austria (17351, +31), Moldova (14714, +351), Serbia (13092,
+102), and Czechia (10650, +89). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria,
Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 59229
confirmed cases and 2734 deaths were registered as of June 24.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about
6267 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3949
in Italy, followed by Moldova (3648) and North Macedonia (2558),
while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (307 per million)
and Slovakia (292 per million), according to a count by ANSA
based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the
highest number of deaths per one million population in the
region (122), followed by North Macedonia (121) and Germany
(107), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 573
deaths per million inhabitants. Between June 15 and June 22,
the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in
Kosovo (+47,3%), North Macedonia (+25,9%), Albania (+25,5%) and
Moldova (+21,0%). In Serbia, Czechia, Greece, Croatia, Slovakia,
Germany, Lithuania, Slovenia, Austria, Latvia, Hungary and
Estonia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero.
