14 August, 12:26The total number of fatalities in the region is 22478 (+131), of which 9211 registered in Germany, 2807 in Romania, 1992 in Ukraine, 1830 in Poland, 863 in Moldova, 724 in Austria, 658 in Serbia, 605 in Hungary, 595 in Belarus.
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (219964, +1445 in the last 24 hours), followed by Ukraine (86140, +1592), Belarus (69102, +97), Romania (65177, +1415), Poland (53676, +715), Serbia (28751, +254), Moldova (28697, +474), Austria (22501, +241), Czechia (19075, +292). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 164602 (+2799) confirmed cases and 5844 (+84) deaths were registered as of August 13.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 7280 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (7114), Montenegro (6074), Kosovo (5940), North Macedonia (5895) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (4260), compared to 4162 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Slovakia (494 per million) and Hungary (488 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population (255), followed by Moldova (214), Kosovo (196), Romania (145), Bosnia-Herzegovina (128), Montenegro (116), Germany (111), Slovakia the lowest (6). Italy has recorded around 582 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between August 3 and August 10, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Greece (+20,6%), Kosovo (+16,5%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+16,5%), Albania (+16,2%) and Romania (+16,1%). (ANSA).
