Covid: mortality below 1% in Germany since August

(ANSA) - BERLIN, 21 OTT - Covid continues to spread in
Germany, but the mortality rate currently (starting from the
second week of August) is clearly below 1%, Robert Koch Institut
reported.
In the pandemic's overall period, mortality reached 2.6% due to the many deaths recorded in the spring. According to the data updated today, there have been 7,595 new infection cases at the federal level in the last 24 hours.
Quite a high number, which remains below the record reached last Saturday (7,830). The reproduction factor R0 dropped to 1.25 (from 1.35). The Koch Institut underlined that 85% of the 9,800 people who have died from Coronavirus in Germany are over 70 years old. Under the age of 50, 130 patients have passed away. (ANSA).
