07 July, 10:22The total number of fatalities in the region is 18.070 (+110), out of which 9016 registered in Germany, 1750 in Romania, 1517 in Poland, 1262 in Ukraine 706 in Austria, 589 in Hungary, 588 in Moldova, 423 in Belarus 348 in Czechia, 341 in North Macedonia, 311 in Serbia. Between June 29 and July 6, the highest growth of the total number of COVID19-related fatalities was recorded in Kosovo (+150,0%), Albania (+79,5%), Montenegro (+55,6%) and North Macedonia (+43,3%).
The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (196554, +219 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (63554, +284), Ukraine (49043, +1366), Poland (35950, +231), Romania (28973, +391), Austria (18269, +73), Moldova (17814, +142), Serbia (16131, +302) and Czechia (12515, +75). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 75344 confirmed cases and 3223 deaths were registered as of July 6.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6696 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (4416) and North Macedonia (3392), compared to 3995 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (327 per million) and Slovakia (324 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (164), followed by Moldova (146) and Germany (108), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 576 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between June 29 and July 6, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Montenegro (+115,7%), Kosovo (+63,0%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+57,2%), Albania (+48,6%), Bulgaria (+47,0%), North Macedonia (+38,0%), Croatia (+36,0%) and Ukraine (+31,7%). Only in Germany, Lithuania, Hungary, Latvia and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases was between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
