(ANSA) - BELGRADO, 15 LUG - A total of 513.419 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (+2737 day-on-day), were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece, show official data of national authorities received by the World Health Organization (WHO) by July 14. The growth of COVID-19 cases in the region was particularly strong in Montenegro, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania in the past week, according to data updated as of July 13. Belarus and Moldova are now registering more confirmed cases of Covid-19 per million people than Italy.

The total number of fatalities in the region is 18.868 (+87), out of which 9064 registered in Germany, 1901 in Romania, 1576 in Poland, 1412 in Ukraine 708 in Austria, 652 in Moldova, 595 in Hungary. Between July and July 13, the highest growth of the total number of COVID19-related fatalities was recorded in Montenegro (+64,3%), Kosovo (+41,5%) and Serbia (+26,4%).

The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (198963, no data for the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (65114, +182), Ukraine (54771, +638), Poland (38190, +299), Romania (32948, +413), Moldova (19438, +57), Austria (18859, +57), Serbia (18639, +279) and Czechia (13238, +64). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 89809 confirmed cases and 3640 deaths were registered as of July 14.

In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6860 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, followed by Moldova (4819) and North Macedonia (3938), compared to 4022 in Italy, while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (355 per million) and Slovakia (349 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, North Macedonia has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (185), followed by Moldova (162) and Germany (109), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 578 deaths per million inhabitants.

Between July 6 and July 13, the highest weekly increase of total confirmed cases was observed in Montenegro (+56,3%), Kosovo (+41,1%), Bulgaria (+31,1%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+27,6%) and Albania (+20,5%). Only in Latvia, Austria, Belarus, Lithuania, Germany, Hungary and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases was between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
